CEO & Co-Founder

Jeff Cook has been an educator for over 25 years.  He began his teaching career as a Teach for America corps member working as a special education teacher in rural North Carolina.  He also has been a special education teacher in Fairfax County, VA; Newton, MA; and at the MATCH Charter High School in Boston, where he also taught math.  Jeff joined the Boston Public Schools in 2005 as a Senior Curriculum Access Specialist at the Urban Science Academy (USA).  His collaborative work with faculty and staff at USA contributed to the school being recognized as an EdVestors School on the Move Finalist in 2011 and 2013 as well as a Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Commendation School in 2010.  Jeff served as USA’s Headmaster beginning in 2014 until 2018 before moving to Charlotte, North Carolina where he became the founding principal of Wilson STEM Academy in 2018; a position he still holds.  In addition, as part of his role as an adjunct faculty member at Lasell College between 2013 – 2017, Jeff developed and taught a course entitled Responsive Teaching in Secondary Schools to undergraduates and taught a course entitled “Learners with Special Needs” to graduate students.  Jeff earned a B.A. in Psychology from UMass Amherst in 1995, a M.Ed. in Risk and Prevention from Harvard University in 1998, and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study in Educational Administration from UMass Boston in 2005.  Jeff is an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan.  He loves to play golf, travel, and enjoys spending time with his family.  Jeff lives in Charlotte with his wife and three children.

Justin Poole has been an educator for more than 15 years. He began his teaching career as a fifth grade general education teacher in a Title 1 school in Charlotte, North Carolina.  He has also served as a Curriculum Facilitator, Dean of Students, Assistant Principal and most recently returned to the classroom as a sixth grade science teacher.  His work as a Curriculum Facilitator contributed to distinguished ratings among the entire school district in terms of growth percentage.  In 2010, Justin was recognized as Teacher of the Year. In 2018, Justin was runner-up for the Assistant Principal of the Year Award in the Cabarrus County Public Schools. Justin earned a B.A. in Elementary Education from North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University in 2000.  He also earned a M.Ed. in Elementary Education from Pfeiffer University in 2009 and a M.Ed. in School Administration from Gardner-Webb University in 2013. In his spare time, Justin loves to coach youth sports, travel, attend sporting events; and most of all, spend time with his family. Justin resides in Charlotte with his wife and three children.
